Rick Karges, LISW-S, ACSW

Executive Director

Rick was attracted to Hopewell because of our innovative therapeutic farm community-based model. He believes it offers us an opportunity to be on the leading edge of behavioral healthcare treatment.

In his more than 20 years in the mental health field, he has had the unique opportunity to have worked in a variety of behavioral healthcare settings, in both clinical and executive capacities. At Hopewell what excites Rick the most, is being a part of residents' growth and following their success after leaving the farm.

Prior to joining Hopewell in September 2007, Rick was with Crisis & Counseling Center, a $7 million community behavioral health center in Augusta, Maine, where he was CEO for seven years.

He was recognized for his outstanding work in the mental health field when he was named the 2007 Professional of the Year by the Maine Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

Rick and his wife are originally from Cleveland, and in the mid 1980's to 1990's, Rick was Executive Director of the Lake County Mental Health Center and prior to that held a leadership position at University Hospital's Psychiatry Management Center.

Rick, his wife and their young son live on campus at Hopewell.
