Welcome to the Hopewell Community
For many of Hopewell's new residents, the first days at the farm can bring about many emotions including fear, happiness and uncertainty. As Hopewell's admission's manager, I have the unique and wonderful opportunity of greeting incoming residents. Whether a resident is accompanied by family or has come alone, Hopewell's staff and residents strive to create a very welcoming and nurturing atmosphere.
On a resident's first day at Hopewell, he or she can expect to complete admission paperwork, review medications with a psychiatric nurse and meet the clinician. At this time, the resident will begin to create an individualized service plan which outlines his or her goals.
Once the admission process is finished, new residents can begin to settle into their room. They are encouraged to bring personal items to make their room as comfortable and home-like as possible.
We know how stressful the first days can be at Hopewell – meeting new people, learning a new routine and expectations. Because staff and residents are like an extended family, many of our current residents will help new residents adjust, showing them the ropes. By the second week new residents will have gained friends and a sense of belonging through our work crews and groups.
